A local firm has established a training centre that will seek to upskill the island’s scaffolding workforce while promoting construction as a viable long-term career for young islanders.
A&A Scaffolding Solutions said its new Scaffold Training Academy is accredited by the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme, making it the first-ever CISRS centre in Jersey and the first outdoor training centre to be awarded the accreditation.
“This comes at an important time for the island’s construction sector,” the firm continued.
“As reflected in recent local news, the industry is currently under pressure due to a slowdown in major projects, with some construction businesses facing closure.
“In this climate, it is more important than ever to actively promote construction as a viable, long-term career path and to invest in developing a skilled local workforce.”
The training centre is due to be officially opened on 28 May by National Access and Scaffolding Confederation chief executive Clive Dickenson, who will visit the island to meet the A&A Scaffolding Solutions team.
