Four Genuine Jersey food businesses have had their produce praised for its “great taste” after they were recognised by a global food and drink accreditation scheme.

The Jersey Fudge Pot, Fishwise, Jersey Dairy, and Field Farm have been given awards for their products under the Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste scheme.

Producers and retailers anonymously enter their products into the scheme in hopes of receiving a “seal of approval” from its panel of over 500 experts that include chefs, buyers, food writers and retailers.

Businesses can earn one of three Great Taste Awards for their products – one-star meaning “simply delicious”; two-star which means “outstanding”; and three-star which is “exquisite”.

If you haven’t heard of the Great Taste Awards, you may recognise its branding – a signifier that the product is worthy of recognition in the eyes of the panel.

Genuine Jersey chief executive John Garton said: “These awards are judged purely on taste, making them a powerful endorsement of the quality, passion, and craftsmanship that define Jersey’s producers.

“We hope these awards inspire even more Islanders and visitors to choose local and discover the incredible quality being produced right here on our doorstep.”

The winning products will now carry their 2026 Great Taste Award logos for the next three years.

Jersey Dairy was recognised for its chocolate-flavoured milk, which earned a one-star award.

Express spoke to marketing manager Jessica Romeril to get the inside scoop on the newly awarded accolade…

Where were you when you found out you’d won? And how did it feel?

We were all in the office when we received the news and were absolutely delighted.

It’s fantastic recognition for the whole team and our dairy farmers. We are incredibly proud to have won a Great Taste star for our chocolate milk.

For those who haven’t tried your product before, how would you describe it in three words?

Creamy. Chocolatey. Indulgent.

If someone visiting Jersey could only take home one taste of the Island, what would you tell them to try (other than your own product), and why?

It’s got to be Jersey Royals with a generous helping of Jersey butter, of course!

Chocolate milk might sound simple, but what turns it into an award-winner?

It starts with great ingredients. We use our creamy Jersey milk combined with high-quality Belgian chocolate to create a smooth, indulgent drink.

It’s delicious served ice cold, but in the winter, it also makes an incredible hot chocolate.

The Great Taste awards are judged blind, does that make this award more meaningful?

Yes, definitely. Knowing the judges don’t know the brand or packaging means the award is purely about the taste and quality of the product.

We are incredibly proud that our chocolate milk stood out amongst so many great products.

After the success with chocolate milk, are there any new flavours in the pipeline? When might Islanders first get to sample them?

We are always looking at ways to bring new and exciting products to our customers.

Our next launch will be Jersey Dairy kefir, a naturally fermented milk drink that is full of goodness. It will be available for Islanders next weekend, so keep an eye out!
