Opportunities for the Channel Islands in the sustainable real estate market are due to be discussed during an upcoming seminar series.

Co-hosted by PwC Channel Islands and Lloyds Bank International, the events will explore the latest developments and innovations in the market and discuss how Jersey and Guernsey’s financial services industry can secure “significant opportunities”.

The first seminar will take place at the Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa on Wednesday 19 November. The final seminar will be hosted at Old Government House in Guernsey on Thursday 20 November.

Chinyelu Oranefo, Managing Director, Sustainability Advisory, Real Estate and Housing at Lloyds Bank Corporate and Institutional, will be the keynote speaker at both events.

A highly experienced sustainable finance practitioner, Ms Oranefo will share practical examples of the transformational ways in which finance is supporting sustainable real estate and the capabilities and components required.

She will be joined in Jersey by a panel of speakers, including Evan Laframboise, Client Director, Real Estate at Altum Group and one of Jersey’s Future Sustainable Finance Leaders; as well as PwC CI’s Tom Walker, Director, Real Estate Valuations, and Tori Davis, Senior Manager, Sustainable Finance Advisory.

In Guernsey, the panels of speakers will also include Mike Pickard, Director, Global ILS and Commercial Management at Aon; Rebecca Booth, Non-Executive Director; as well as PwC CI’s Harry Philpott, Senior Manager, Real Estate, and Tori Davis.

PwC CI’s sustainability leader Ali Cambray said: “Real estate assets, and the wider built environment, are critical to how we shape a sustainable future, with ever-increasing expectations for environmental and social impact, community placemaking, and resilience.

“This is driving innovation in how such developments are financed, through different mechanisms, structures and partnerships.

“In line with the ambitions of Jersey and Guernsey as leading sustainable IFCs, and building on jurisdictional strengths in real estate investment, there is an opportunity to further build, collaborate and promote our capabilities and offerings for sustainable real estate finance.

“These events aim to bring those opportunities to life.”
