Due to ongoing poor visibility within the Channel Islands, a number of Aurigny’s flights are expected to be delayed or cancelled today, 16 July.

Aurigny says it is continually monitoring the weather and plans to operate flights this evening, provided safe conditions permit.

The airline also states that it is evaluating options for additional flights over the next few days to provide extra capacity to transport those affected home, should that become necessary.

The team have reaccommodated some Alderney passengers via sea.

A spokesperson for Aurigny said: “In light of the persistent fog, our teams are working hard to keep our customers informed with the latest guidance and to complete flights where safe conditions allow.

“We’ve taken the difficult decision to cancel some services due to aircraft being unable to land in Guernsey and Alderney.

“We sincerely thank all our customers for their patience and understanding. We recognise that delays caused by weather, especially fog, are unpredictable and particularly frustrating. We also extend our appreciation to our crew and ground teams for their hard work.”

Aurigny also says its phone lines are busy, and requests customers only call if their enquiry is urgent in relation to travel today, to prioritise those in most need.

Customers whose flights are cancelled will receive direct emails from Aurigny with their options, and those travelling are encouraged to check their flight status at: www.aurigny.com/information/disruptions and www.aurigny.com/information/arrivals-departures
