The GSPCA is extending heartfelt thanks to local company Aztec after their incredibly generous support towards repairing significant storm damage at the GSPCA’s aviary facilities.
During Storm Goretti, the GSPCA’s recently built temporary aviaries—constructed last year to safely house birds during the ongoing #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal redevelopment—suffered horrendous damage, including multiple torn panels and structural issues. These aviaries have been essential in caring for injured, sick and rescued birds while major construction works take place across the site.
Aztec has stepped forward with an amazing £2,000 donation, a contribution that will make a huge difference in helping the GSPCA order replacement panels, materials and essential supplies needed to restore the aviaries and resume full capacity for bird care.

GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said: “We are incredibly grateful to Mark and the whole team at Aztec for this wonderful support during what has been a very challenging time for the GSPCA. Storm Goretti caused horrendous damage to our new aviaries, which we only built last year to help house the many birds we care for during the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal.
“Their £2,000 donation will go an enormous way towards replacing the damaged panels and purchasing the equipment we urgently need to repair the aviaries and ensure the birds in our care remain safe and comfortable.
“We continue to rely on the generosity of our community, and we have an online wish list featuring items needed both for the Biggest Build and for our day‑to‑day animal care. Every donation, large or small, truly helps make a difference.”
