The Guernsey Scout Association hosted a highly successful two-day youth engagement event over the weekend, bringing together scouts and explorers as well as volunteer leaders from across the island to help shape the future of Scouting in Guernsey.

The event began on Friday with a dedicated programme for young people, welcoming more than 120 children from Scout sections across the island. The sessions were led by members of the UK Youth Team, including Ayesha Karim, UK Youth Lead, and Robert Mason, UK Youth Team Member, who travelled to Guernsey specifically to support the event.

Friday’s activities followed on from the UK Youth Forum held last year and focused on sharing and exploring the findings from extensive consultation work involving feedback from over 1,500 young people across the UK. Through interactive sessions, Guernsey’s young people were encouraged to reflect on the analysis, share their own views, and contribute ideas about how Scouting can continue to evolve to better meet their needs.

On Saturday, the focus shifted to the island’s volunteer leaders. Leaders from across Guernsey were invited to attend two sessions held at Le Maingys Activity Centre. These sessions provided an opportunity to review the same youth feedback and analysis, discuss key themes collectively, and consider what positive and practical actions could be taken locally to improve the Scouting experience for young people across the island.

The weekend highlighted Guernsey Scouts’ ongoing commitment to youth-led Scouting, ensuring that young people’s voices are heard and actively shape the movement at both local and national levels.

The Guernsey Scout Association would like to thank all the young people, volunteers, and visiting UK Youth team members who contributed to such an engaging and inspiring weekend and to the OGH for providing the accommodation.
