Two volunteers from Guernsey have represented the island on the world stage at the World Scout Moot in Portugal.
The event, which brought together 9,000 Scouts aged 18 to 25 from all over the world, ran from 25 July to 6 August.
As part of the UK contingent, Tom Allaway and Alex French took part in a four-day expedition across remote parts of Portugal with other international Scouts.
Afterwards, they attended a camp in Ovar for further activities and cultural learning.
Both Tom, an IT consultant, and Alex, who works at the Met Office, were Scout volunteers who helped organise the event.
Chief Scout, Dwayne Fields wished both Mr Allaway and Mr French well ahead of their departure.
“This is an amazing opportunity to discover yourself and the world around us, while exploring how you can create meaningful change. The true international spirit of Scouting will shine through, with so many chances to learn from other Scouts around the world.
Mr Fields continued: “I know each UK Scout attending will grab the opportunity to create memories, friendships and skills to last a lifetime. We know that too many young people today grow up unhappy and worried about their future. Scouts aims to change that. We give young people a chance to belong and a place to be themselves.’’
