The Bailiwick’s marine ambulance is to benefit from a charity concert by Guernsey’s popular sea shanty group GU10.
The event at St James on Saturday 11″ October, celebrates the 20th anniversary of GU10 and comes at the end of the Flying Christine III’s 30″ anniversary year.

The charity concert has been organised by Dean De La Mare, Head of Operations at the Ambulance and Rescue Service and founding member of GU10.
“As one of the founding members of GU10. I am proud to be able to celebrate our 20″h anniversary whilst also raising money for this excellent cause with which I am closely associated in my role as a senior officer with the ambulance service.I must thank my fellow GU10 members for supporting me in putting on this event and I hope lots of people will come along to celebrate these combined anniversaries with us, it should be a great night.”
GU10 was formed in 2005, during the Year of the Sea, and has performed at folk festivals in the UK and France as well as community events across the Bailiwick, including the Viaer Marchi and Castle Nights.
Last year the group wrote a special song, with lyrics by Richard Fyfe, set to the tune of a traditional sea shanty to mark the 30″ anniversary of Flying Christine III.
