The team at the GSPCA is delighted to share the heart‑warming story of Rogue, a much‑loved French Bulldog currently in our care, who recently celebrated not only his 2nd birthday but also a successful operation that will greatly improve his quality of life.
Rogue has been with the GSPCA for several weeks while undergoing assessment and receiving the veterinary care he desperately needed. Last week, he underwent surgery to widen his nostrils and help him breathe more easily – a common procedure for brachycephalic breeds like French Bulldogs. Thankfully, the operation was not as complicated as first feared, but it was still essential for his long‑term health and comfort. Rogue was also neutered during the procedure at Isabelle Vets.
Despite everything he has been through, Rogue has been an absolute star. The team made sure his 2nd birthday didn’t go unnoticed, surprising him with treats, toys, and plenty of affection during his recovery.

Seb Goman, GSPCA Senior Animal Care Assistant and Animal Welfare Officer said: “Rogue has done incredibly well, and we are all so proud of him. He came through his surgery brilliantly and has been recovering really well over the weekend. Even with everything going on, he still had a few lovely surprises for his birthday, which certainly lifted his spirits. He’s a sweet boy who takes everything in his stride, and the whole kennel team absolutely adores him.”
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager said: “Rogue is such a friendly and affectionate lad. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with his character. We are thrilled to say we have a wonderful home lined up for him once he has fully recovered. We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated towards his treatment, which has cost nearly £3,000. Every donation truly makes a difference, and you can still help support Rogue and the many other animals currently relying on the GSPCA.”
