On Wednesday 20th March, the GSPCA welcomed a fantastic team of volunteers from RBS International, who generously gave their time to support the charity across several key areas of the shelter.

Upon arrival, the group was greeted by GSPCA Training and Community Officer, Tim Pellett, who took the opportunity to capture a team photograph before the volunteers enthusiastically got stuck into their activities. Their support made a significant impact across the busy charity.

The RBS International staff helped with a wide range of essential tasks including:

  • Gardening and grounds work to help keep the site safe and presentable
  • Dog walking, ensuring the animals enjoyed exercise and enrichment
  • Supporting the team with the ferrets and cats in their care
  • And most notably, helping to set up a new rehabilitation pool for young grey seal pups Ice Ice Baby and Icicle, who are preparing to move into the next stage of their recovery journey

Their efforts helped save staff valuable time and allowed the GSPCA team to focus on specialist welfare work while ensuring animals received extra attention and care.

Tim Pellett, GSPCA Training and Community Officer, said: “We were absolutely delighted to welcome the team from RBS International. They arrived full of energy, rolled up their sleeves straight away, and made a real difference across so many areas of the shelter. From working with the animals to helping prepare the new seal pup pool, their support was invaluable. A huge thank you to each and every one of them — we truly appreciate their kindness and enthusiasm.”

Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said: “A massive thank you to the staff from RBS International for giving up their time to help us. Corporate volunteer days like this make a huge difference to the animals and to our team. For businesses looking to get involved, there are so many ways to support the GSPCA — from hands‑on volunteer days and fundraising events to sponsoring areas of the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal or holding dress‑down days and sponsored challenges. Every bit of support helps us continue our vital work for the community and the thousands of animals we care for each year.”

The GSPCA is incredibly grateful to RBS International for their hard work and generosity. Their contribution helps ensure the charity can continue providing lifesaving care to animals in need across the island.
