From Monday 17 November, the Household Green Waste site at Mont Cuet will move to its winter opening hours, which will remain in place until 30 March 2026.
During this period, the site will be open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays from 10am to 4pm, and closed on all other days.
Guernsey Waste’s Waste Minimisation and Sustainability Officer, Douglas Button, said the switch to winter hours has been introduced slightly later this year following a review of site usage.
“Last year we saw continued high demand for around two weeks after the move to winter hours, so we decided to extend the summer schedule a little longer this season,” he said.
“We review traffic volumes at the end of each season and make adjustments where needed to ensure we’re providing the best possible service for islanders.”
The Household Green Waste site accepts all garden clippings and green waste, including grass, leaves, branches, and hedge trimmings, but green waste that has been treated with herbicides and pesticides is not accepted at the site.
Please note that plant pots, stones, rocks, soil, and noxious weeds such as ragwort should be excluded from green waste brought to the site. Japanese knotweed is also not accepted, but other invasive species such as sour fig can be composted. A dedicated skip is available on site for bamboo and pampas grass.
This facility is strictly for household green waste only. All other household waste and recycling should be taken to the Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Longue Hougue.
