Time is running out for charities and community groups across Jersey to apply for the SunWorks Solar Giveaway.
With less than one week remaining until the deadline on Monday 30 June, local organisations are urged to submit their applications now for the chance to win a solar panel installation worth up to £10,000.
The SunWorks Solar Giveaway is designed to help non-profits cut energy costs, reduce their carbon footprint, and free up more funds to support their vital community work.
Successful applicants could see savings of up to 70% on their electricity bills.
Mark Brandon, Co-Owner and Managing Director at SunWorks, explained: “This initiative is about investing in people, purpose, and the planet.
“We’ve had a fantastic response so far, but we don’t want anyone to miss out.
“There’s just a week left, so now’s the time to apply.”
Applications are open to charities, social enterprises, and community organisations based in Jersey.
The process is simple; groups just need to complete a short form on the SunWorks website and provide a few photos and details about their property and impact.
Once the application window closes, a shortlist will be drawn up by SunWorks’ panel based on each project’s impact, need, and alignment with sustainability goals.
The final decision will then go to a public vote, running from 14th July to 22nd August, with the winner to be announced on 25th August. Installation is planned for early September.
Last year’s winner, sustainable cooperative SCOOP shared how the initiative made a tangible difference.
“Going solar was a natural step for us and it’s really helped reduce our energy bills,” said Kaspar Wimberley.
“We’re incredibly grateful to SunWorks and wish this year’s applicants the very best of luck.”
Ben Spencer-Newman, Surveyor at SunWorks, added: “This isn’t just about clean energy, it’s about helping local groups thrive.
“By lowering their running costs, we’re giving them the freedom to put more resources into their core work.”
