SPONSORED CONTENT: Look out for the YES icon on hundreds of Coop brand products
With mixed messages, busy schedules and a lot of online noise to contend with, it can be hard to make healthy choices quickly. But the Coop believes making better food choices should be simple. That’s why they’ve introduced the YES symbol across their own brand range, your quick guide to healthier options. The bright, bold symbol now appears across hundreds of their own‑brand products, designed to help you spot healthier options in seconds.
When you see the YES symbol on any Coop foods, you can be confident the product offers a nutritional benefit. That might mean it counts toward one of your five-a-day, is a source of fibre, or is naturally high in protein. The Coop use the YES symbol on foods recommended by the Eatwell Guide, as well as convenient favourites like ready meals, so you can shop smarter without scanning barcodes or second guessing.
With YES, eating well is easier than ever, just look for the symbol and feel good about what goes in your basket.
Not every favourite needs a YES.
Of course, everyone’s needs are different, and not having the YES symbol doesn’t make a product “bad.” Take the Coop’s bakery range: the white loaf still provides fibre, but the wholemeal loaf carries the YES symbol because it offers even more. It’s all about helping you find the best option when you want it.
Held to the highest standards
Just like every Coop product, those with the YES symbol meet the supermarket’s rigorous sourcing standards including their ethical and sustainability criteria. Because healthier choices should also be responsible ones.
What makes a YES product?
Every YES-labelled product must meet strict nutritional guidelines, including:
1. No red traffic lights
With exceptions for naturally occurring nutrients like the good fats found in nuts and oily fish. All savoury products must also display at least one green traffic light.
2. Salt targets met
All products must meet salt reduction targets (maximum target per 100g) set out by the UK government.
3. Calorie targets met
All products must meet the UK government’s calorie reduction targets (maximum guideline for calories per portion).
4. Non HFSS (not high in fat, salt or sugar)*
Products cannot be high in fat, salt or sugar, according to the UK Department of Health’s 2004/5 Nutrient Profiling Model. With a few exceptions, such as plain dried fruit or plain nuts with no added ingredients.
YES is your friendly guide to healthier choices. Quick, clear, and right there on the shelf. Look for the symbol and say YES to eating well with the Coop.
