Deloitte has strengthened its Risk and Regulatory Advisory service offerings, recruiting Anna Sabiston as a risk and compliance specialist, and promoting Alex Armstrong to Senior Manager specialising in financial instruments advisory and controls assurance reporting.
Mrs Sabiston holds an ICA International Diploma in Compliance and has over 12 years’ experience working in industry in the specialised environment of financial crime prevention and regulatory compliance.
Having previously worked as a Compliance Officer, holding the roles of Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Money Laundering Compliance Officer, she has significant experience of the challenges local businesses face in today’s complex regulatory environment and her insights will enhance the advisory services offered by Deloitte.
Mrs Sabiston said: “Keeping on track with the developing regulatory agenda both locally and internationally is essential for local businesses. I am looking forward to supporting clients who face ongoing challenges to balance effective use of their resources with the need to ensure delivery and implementation of robust compliance frameworks across different business sectors within an evolving regulatory environment.”
One of her first priorities is to conduct the fifth annual Offshore Deloitte Compliance Officer Survey due to be published in early 2016. It will provide a unique picture of Jersey-based Compliance Officers’ collective view of the current and future compliance framework that will help inform development of future strategy.
Deloitte has also promoted Alex Armstrong to Senior Manager within the Risk Advisory team. Alex has over seven years’ experience in managing advisory engagements and reporting on operational issues including fund services controls reviews.
He played a central role in review of businesses and the provision of advice to regulated entities on the adequacy and effectiveness of their internal controls procedures. He has also worked within banking & capital markets and the investment management sectors on treasury advisory, complex financial accounting and reporting, and assurance engagements across the Jersey financial services industry, with a number of banking and private equity clients and other alternative asset class funds.
