AFM leaders learn to 'Manage Safely'

Wednesday 16 August 2017

Seven managers of AFM have completed an internationally-recognised qualification in health and safety.

As part of the facilities management firm’s ongoing development programme, Fire and Security Manager Chris Pinch and Projects Manager Chantel Gratz gained the ‘Managing Safety’ certificate from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in Jersey.

They were accompanied by five members of AFM’s Guernsey team: Electrical Manager Wayne Harwood, Fire and Security Manager Martin Le Page, PPM Manager Roy Luxon and Assistant Cleaning Managers Alvika Bicane and Daniel Jardim.

AFM Managing Director Mark Edgar commented: “At AFM we take health and safety extremely seriously and always seek to support our managers in their day-to-day management. This course highlights the importance of assessing and controlling risks and hazards.

"It also helps to improve organisation-wide safety awareness and instils an appreciation of safety measures. It has been proved that the completion of health and safety training such as this one provided by IOSH improves business productivity too, reducing the number of hours lost to sickness and injury.”
