Bohemia Scoops Two Stars in the World of Fine Wine Awards 2016

Wednesday 22 June 2016

The Club Hotel & Spa’s Michelin-star restaurant Bohemia in Jersey has been awarded a prestigious two-star award in the “World’s Best Wine Lists Awards.”

Bohemia is the only restaurant in the Channel Islands to ever achieve a two star rating in the awards. The Michelin-starred restaurant is now ranked as one of the top 58 wine lists in the whole of the UK.

The internationally acclaimed wine magazine invited an eclectic panel of judges to assess the selections. This year, some of the world’s leading wine critics and sommeliers from around the globe were involved, including Alder Yarrow, Elin McCoy, Ch’ng Poh Tiong, Andrew Jefford, Andreas Larsson, Francis Percival, and Editor Neil Beckett.

Guest judges this year were Daniel Humm and Wine Director Cedric Nicaise from Eleven Madison Park in New York, winners of the World’s Best Wine List in 2015.

The breadth, depth, interest, quality and value of Bohemia’s impressive wine selection were considered as well as the suitability of the selection. The judges assessed well over 4,500 wine lists from restaurants around the world before deciding on the final 817 award-winning offerings.

Bohemia has an inventory of 3,000 bottles of wine from a selection of 260 bins. Bohemia sources a large number of wines directly and their list encompasses top wines across several regions. Recent additions include the wines made from the Greek white wine grape Malagousia and Buket from Bulgaria. Bohemia has a large selection of French wines due to its close proximity to Jersey.

Bohemia offers a Grand Formats wine list which is believed to be one of the largest in the UK. The list encompasses over 30 different large bottle wines from Magnums (2 bottles) to Imperiales (8 bottles wine) and includes Salmanazzar and Nebuchadnezzars of Champagne (12 and 20 bottles). The bottles have been sourced from all over Europe, including UK auctions and direct from wine houses in France. The list is a hit for private parties and gatherings both in the restaurant and private dining rooms.

As well as a stellar wine list, Bohemia has been Jersey’s finest dining establishment since opening its doors in April 2004. Bohemia is the only restaurant in the Channel Islands to be listed in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants and is ranked at number 49. Bohemia also recently received the highest score in the Channel Islands in the Good Food Guide 2016 with a glowing score of seven, its highest score yet, and was listed as the best restaurant in Jersey in the guide’s ‘Top 50 Restaurants in the UK.’
