James Kinsley has joined law firm Carey Olsen as a Principal in its banking and finance practice in Jersey.

Before joining Carey Olsen, Mr Kinsley was a Partner at Maples in Singapore where he was the head of its Asia asset finance team and Asia structured finance team.

Before Maples, he worked in Allen & Overy's structured finance team in London and Hong Kong and Morgan Stanley's global capital markets team in Hong Kong.

Managing Partner Alex Ohlsson said: “James is a highly accomplished and experienced lawyer and we are pleased to welcome him to Jersey from Singapore. 

“He enjoys a strong market reputation as a result of advising some of the largest corporations and financial institutions in both Europe and Asia. We are thrilled that James has joined the team.”

He added that Mr Kinsley had extensive experience of debt finance transactions in Europe and Asia and advised on all aspects of private debt, structured, leveraged and acquisition finance. 

In addition, his expertise included take-private transactions, fund finance, debt capital markets, convertible instruments, special situations, derivatives and syndicated lending.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Kinsley added: “I am delighted to join Carey Olsen’s market-leading team in Jersey with valuable experience gained in Europe and Asia.
