Carey Olsen advises on lease for new hospitality premises

Monday 09 November 2015

Carey Olsen has advised CompropCI on its letting of new hospitality premises at Weighbridge House, St Helier, to the Liberation Group.

The new ground floor and basement premises, of approximately 4,500 sq ft, will provide a new bar and restaurant together with al fresco dining.

Comprop's development of Weighbridge House started in 2014 on the site of the former Southampton Hotel considered to be a property with a rich local history.  The project involved the restoration of the building's historic façade and features while providing modern commercial office and hospitality premises with over 16,800 sq ft of total lettable area.

Carey Olsen's property team, led by partner and head of property, Chris Philpott, advised on all aspects of the project including the pre-letting arrangements.

Mr Philpott said: "Comprop's redevelopment of Weighbridge House is a demonstration of its commitment to the commercial property market in Jersey and is further testament to the positive investment climate the island is experiencing."

Comprop Managing Director, Steve Marie, said: "We are delighted to announce the completion of Weighbridge House at the ex Southampton Hotel and Traders site. The letting of the ground floor to the Liberation Group will add significant prominence to the site  and further enhance the hospitality scene in the Liberation Square area."
