Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has made six senior promotions across its global network of offices.
The promotions are effective from 1 July in Carey Olsen offices from Jersey to the Cayman Islands.
The promotions include Peter Sherwood who is moving up to counsel in the Cayman Islands office (subject to immigration approvals), Alan Hughes who has been promoted to counsel in the Singapore office and four new senior associates: Andrew Chissick in London, Luke Sayer in Guernsey and Samantha Hoare and Sarah Townsend in Jersey.
Mr Hughes relocated to the Singapore office in January 2016. He has extensive experience advising a wide range of clients engaged in cross border transactions on all aspects of British Virgin Islands (BVI) corporate and commercial law.
Mr Sherwood has a broad range of experience in the Cayman Islands and specialises in cross-border insolvency, restructuring and commercial litigation in the financial services sector.
Mr Chissick provides BVI dispute resolution and insolvency advice from the firm's London office. He advises large financial institutions, corporate entities and high net worth individuals on a wide variety of contentious issues.
Ms Hoare is a dispute resolution and litigation lawyer in the firm's Jersey office. She has a breadth of experience in general commercial litigation with a particular focus on planning law, judicial review, contractual disputes and contentious trust matters.
Guernsey-based Mr Sayer has extensive experience in commercial litigation acting for clients in complex and high value commercial disputes. Mr Sayer frequently advises organisations in relation to high value trust, construction, insolvency and financial disputes disputes, fraud and asset tracing, and regulatory matters.
Ms Townsend advises on a broad range of corporate and investment fund matters - in particular, the establishment, regulation and operation of joint ventures, investment funds, managed accounts and other investment vehicles. Based in Jersey, she has acted for a number of leading financial institutions.

Separately, counsel Michael Goulborn re-joins the firm's dispute resolution and litigation practice in Jersey. Mr Goulborn has particular expertise in contentious and non-contentious trust matters. He is experienced in commercial and financial services disputes, including administrative applications involving trustees, beneficiaries and protectors, as well as breach of trust actions and corporate insolvency.
