Channel Island firm given top investment award

Monday 24 October 2016

One of the largest independent investment managers in the Channel Islands has picked up a top industry accolade at a ceremony in London.

Brooks Macdonald was voted ‘Best International Discretionary Fund Manager’ at the 17th International Fund and Products Awards.

Discretionary investment management is a form of investment management in which a portfolio manager uses their “discretion” to buy and sell on their client’s behalf. It puts great pressure on the manager, and is generally only offered to high net worth clients who have a significant level of investable assets.

The judges described Brooks Macdonald as a “well-run, pro-active and forward thinking company”, with judges noting in particular the firm’s “good reputation”.

Commenting on the award, Brooks Macdonald’s Richard Hughes said: “To be recognised at these well-established awards for the second consecutive year and alongside some major brands in the global arena is a fantastic achievement, and a reflection of the calibre of our teams in Jersey and Guernsey.

“Winning this award shows that our business in the Channel Islands, which spearheads Brooks Macdonald’s international strategy, has earned strong recognition in the international professional adviser marketplace and gained real traction in key overseas markets.”
