Monday 01 February 2016

The Channel Islands Group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), the body that represents the public relations industry in the UK, has elected a new committee for 2016.

Following its Annual General Meeting on 21st January, Adam Riddell will serve a third term as chair; Mark Oliphant has been appointed as vice chair; Guy Le Maistre retains his role as treasurer; and Harriet Black joins the executive committee as secretary.

The eight other committee members, covering both Guernsey and Jersey, are Jim Anderson, Katrina Bray, William Church, Lisa Downes, Leah Le Ruez, Natasha Egre, Sarah Jehan and Nichole Sweetsur.

The CIPR Channel Islands Group aims to raise the profile of public relations as a profession in the Channel Islands and promote the highest professional standards within the sector. The Group plans to host a number of events over the course of the year spanning digital, internal communications, creative writing and media relations.

Mr Riddell said: “2015 was another successful year for the Channel Islands Group in which we succeeded in organising a solid programme of activity across both Guernsey and Jersey, including the first ever and highly successful Channel Islands PR Forum in Guernsey.

“As we look forward to 2016, the committee will continue to support public relations practitioners in the islands with their training and professional development needs and work to further embed public relations as a key management function within the many smart organisations in the islands that take the business of reputation seriously.”
