Commander Stephen Head, who manages and coordinates the police response to economic fraud at the City of London Police, is the keynote speaker at Jersey International Business School’s 11th Annual Compliance & Economic Crime Symposium, which takes place at Hotel de France on 10 November 2015.

Commander Head, as commander of the Economic Crime Directorate, sets standards, facilitates joint working and integrates strategies across the counter-fraud community. He also supports the UK government in setting the national counter-fraud strategy.

The commander also leads on police investigations of overseas corruption and bribery involving British citizens and companies abroad. Commander Head will be addressing delegates on how the fight against economic crime is developing.

Professor Michael Levi, a professor of criminology at Cardiff University, will also speak at the symposium.

Professor Levi will discuss the implications of the Fourth EU Anti Money Laundering Directive (4MLD) on regulated financial services businesses. These major changes will heavily influence policy and procedure as the global AML environment continues to evolve.

Professor Michael Levi (MA, Dip Crim, PhD, DSc (Econ)) has degrees from Oxford, Cambridge, Southampton and Cardiff Universities and has been Professor of Criminology at Cardiff University since 1991.

He has been conducting international research on the control of white-collar and organised crime, corruption and money laundering/financing of terrorism since 1972, and has published widely on these subjects as well as editing major journals.

Other speakers include Barry Faudemer, director of enforcement at the JFSC, Richard Hay, tax partner at Stikeman Elliott (London) LLP, and Nigel Kirby, deputy director for the National Crime Agency’s Economic Crime Command.

The symposium is sponsored by Stephen Platt & Associates LLP, KYC360° and the International Compliance Association, and supported by the Jersey Compliance Officers Association, whose members receive a 20% discount on the cost of the symposium.
