Close employee in national top five

Close Finance’s Rachel Scott Renouf has won a gold award in the Group’s inaugural Recognition Awards.

She flew to London last month to pick up her award, unaware that she was to be recognised as one of the top five employees in the UK for her efforts in supporting and mentoring staff at one of its regional offices.

Having previously headed up the sales support team in Jersey, Ms Scott Renouf was seconded to the Cardiff office in late 2014 to provide experienced cover and help train up a new administration team. And her efforts in empowering staff not only won her an award for employee of the month for Wales, but she was subsequently shortlisted for one of the Close Brothers banking group’s national awards for her commitment and ‘exemplary’ teamwork.

These new awards were introduced to recognise staff excellence and innovation and, in total, 15 candidates from across Close Brothers’ 2,000-plus employees were invited to attend the inaugural awards presentation at a top London hotel.

As well as the honour of being the retail division’s top performer, she was one of only five Close employees to pick up a gold award, and also received vouchers totalling £2,000 to add to her other accolades.

Having recently taken on the new role of corporate governance officer following the conclusion of her secondment, she attributed her success to the experience she’d gained working across a number of areas within the company, and to the support she had received from colleagues in both Jersey and Cardiff.

“The great thing about the Recognition Awards is that I was nominated by a number of members of my team and, to me, to know that your hard work and commitment is appreciated is what’s most important,” said Ms Scott Renouf.

Close Finance’s managing director Adam Dawson added: “The success of our business relies on the quality of our people and for Rachel to have been recognised at national level as someone who exemplifies great service and teamwork is a tremendous fillip for everyone in the Jersey office.”
