Collas Crill expand UK real estate team in Jersey

Friday 17 June 2016

The Collas Crill UK real estate team in Jersey are expanding due to the continued growth of business in this area.

The expansion has begun with group partner Mr Michael Morris moving from Guernsey to the Jersey Collas Crill office to head up the growing team. Mr Morris initially established the UK real estate practice in Guernsey in 2011 and has been described by Legal 500 as: "A dedicated lawyer, who is willing to go the extra mile to complete a transaction” and by clients as having “superb technical knowledge, down to earth, communicates effectively and very matter of fact.”

The last 12 months have proven to be an incredible year for the team having acted on some significant real estate transactions with a total of £500 million.  These include Black Lion house, a modern office building in Whitechapel and Quay house currently London's most anticipated development set to be the fourth largest skyscraper in the city at 240m high. This contributed to their top tier recognition in key legal directories Chambers & Partners UK and Legal 500.

Collas Crill group partner Mr Morris said: "This growth is testament to the high-level of service the team has been providing for many high value transactions which is being widely recognised.  The breadth and depth of our UK Real Estate team’s experience enables us to assist with all aspects of UK property, including residential, commercial and financing from within the Channel Islands."

The team have been described in client feedback as "approachable lawyers who are eager to do a good job and work collaboratively with their clients" as they bring city standards of service, delivered offshore.

Over the last few years the team has been strengthened by the additions of consultant Shelagh Mason from Spicer & Partners, senior associate Donald Millar from Scottish firm Brodies and senior associate Jeff Boyle from Pinsent Masons.

It is likely that the team will be recruiting further team members in the near future.
