Consumer disputes amounted to £1.3million in 2018

Trading Standards assisted in the resolution of over a thousand disputes between consumer and local traders last year, amounting to a total value of £1.35million.

In total, Trading Standards dealt with 1,044 cases in 2018, 98% of which were actioned within three days.

The figures came in the Government of Jersey's Annual Report, which was released last week.

They showed that customer feedback for the service saw 96% of users rate Trading Standards staff as "courteous and helpful", while overall customer satisfaction was 86%.

In addition to dealing with consumer disputes, the service also issued 220 safety and product recall alerts and seized 157 unsafe items.
