Data analytics software consultancy Continuum has appointed a consultant to its team.
The firm says new recruit Zac Barnes built his first computer at the age of 12 with his grandfather.
After scoring a triple distinction in his Level Three IT B-Tec at Highlands, he worked for a local IT supplier for 18 months.
“I had always been into IT, especially the hardware," he said. "I loved taking computers apart and rebuilding them. At Highlands I studied Networking and Security, which gave me a taste for IT as a career.
“I wanted to join Continuum after I saw what Alteryx could do – you can do so much cool stuff with it I really wanted to learn how to do more.”
Mr Barnes began his role shadowing Dave Johnson, a Technical Consultant, and has now passed his Alteryx Core qualifications. He is now focusing on the Advanced and Partner Certifications.
“We’re delighted to get Zac on board. Young, local talent has a big role to play in the future of all our businesses, and it’s very rewarding to see how Zac has developed and learnt so much in such a short time," Dan Hare, Founder of Continuum, said.
“Data analytic software such as Alteryx has already been a game changer for many organisations in the Island – from Financial Services to the Public Sector – and young people who have the capacity to understand software like this now, and work with businesses as the programmes develop, have a big role to play in the digital transformation of our Island.”
