Customer service retail ambassadors make the grade

More than 80 employees from 30 Jersey businesses have successfully achieved a customer service ‘badge of honour’ after attending a series of intensive workshops.

The initiative has been organised by Jersey Business, working with local training supplier Rebecca Cook of Butterfly Training Limited, which is the only accredited WorldHost trainer in Jersey.

The objective has been to support the Economic Development Department’s Interim Retail Development Plan (IRDP) activity. The IRDP represents a programme of short and medium term Government support designed to assist the Island’s retail sector which is being impacted by a combination of online retailing and the after effects of global economic conditions.

Graeme Smith, CEO of Jersey Business said: “We are delighted with the response we received to this initiative from local businesses. We were able to offer places to retailers across the island and they were snapped up by more than 30 organisations, from both the public and private sector, which goes to show that excellent customer service is recognised as a pillar of business success. Jersey Business is committed to supporting businesses of all sizes to support the continued economic recovery and growth.”

Katherine Ransom, Director of Ransom's Garden Centre said the initiative has proved invaluable for my staff, and for the business overall.

She said: "Customer service is at the heart of what we do and this programme has helped us focus on what more we can do to deliver the highest standards for our customers. We’re grateful to Jersey Business and Butterfly Training for the opportunity they have given us. Being a retail ambassador for our sector, and for the whole Island, is a badge of honour that we will wear with pride."
