It's competition time for digital entrepreneurs!

Thursday 09 March 2017

Some of the initial costs of launching a business may disappear for a digital start-up thanks to a new competition being run in Jersey.

Digital Jersey is running the initiative in association with NatWest, to provide a workspace and a year’s small business membership for two digital entrepreneurs.

The two successful entrepreneurs will be able to work from the Digital Jersey Hub, using all the facilities available to small business members. There will also be mentoring and networking opportunities on offer along with financial mentoring from the team at NatWest.

Keith Forrest, Director Business and Premium Banking, NatWest said: “We work closely with many small businesses and know the value of the right working environment and networking.

“With this competition we hope to be able to support and encourage innovative entrepreneurs in Jersey who are starting businesses that will help grow and diversify our economy for the benefit of everyone.”

The competition is open to entrepreneurs who are just starting, or have recently started, a digital business and wish to take it on the next step.

Tony Moretta, CEO Digital Jersey said: It is really encouraging to see a local bank recognising and supporting our digital industry in Jersey. Every week we see new entrepreneurs coming through the doors of the DJ Hub and support like this in the early stages is invaluable. We look forward to welcoming the two new businesses.”

The closing date for the competition is 31 March. Shortlisted entries will be invited to meet a judging panel for an interview, before the winning two businesses are chosen.

To enter, entrepreneurs need to submit a two-page business plan explaining their business or idea, what stage it’s at, how it fits into Jersey’s digital economy and how they plan to grow it over the next three years.
