Discover Jersey Uncovered!

Wednesday 16 March 2016

A group of professional tourist guides has launched a new enterprise - Jersey Uncovered - as the Island gets ready for next week's start of the Channel Island's Heritage Festival.

The venture is the brainchild of six professional Tourist Guides, who have all achieved the nationally recognised symbol of tourist guiding excellence, the Blue Badge. The aim of Jersey Uncovered is to highlight Jersey’s touristic and historical gems in a 21st Century way, with the guides keen to enhance “the Jersey experience” for visitors and locals alike.

Speaking on the formation of Jersey Uncovered, Blue Badge Guide Tracey Radford said: “Jersey is a small island with a big story and the Jersey Uncovered team are eager to tell this story.”  She added, “Our Blue Badge demonstrates our comprehensive knowledge of Jersey’s past and present which, combined with our individual skills, enables us to offer visitors both general and more specialized tours and experiences."

Whether on foot, by coach or by car, the Jersey Uncovered team will showcase the Island, based on the visitors’ interests, as well as offer traditional tour selections. Each guide has their own specialty covering the Island’s many facets. From Jersey’s rich heritage, legends and birdlife, to its maritime history, geology and food, this team promises to deliver memorable experiences with their bespoke and themed tours.

With a teacher, retired Royal Air Force SNCO and former Jersey Heritage chairman amongst their numbers, the Jersey Uncovered team come from diverse backgrounds and are united by a single goal.

“We were motivated to form Jersey Uncovered to further promote the Island,” said Clive Jones MBE, a Blue Badge Guide and former Chairman of Jersey Heritage. “Using a professional tourist guide can help people get so much more out of their time in Jersey, and maybe enough to make them want to visit again.”

The team has a number of walks in the forthcoming Channel Islands Heritage Festival, which runs from 25th March to 10th May 2016, details of which can be found here.
