EasyJet capacity to grow by 9% this summer

Tuesday 03 April 2018

EasyJet has announced that its capacity is to grow by 9% this summer as the airline marks 10 years flying to and from Jersey.

easyJet launched the very first flight to Jersey on 20 March 2008 from London Luton and since then the airline has continued to grow its services, including the launch of an Edinburgh route this January.

Over the past 10 years, the airline has carried over two million customers to and from Jersey in the last decade and over 600,000 in the last 12 months alone.

Speaking of the the airline's future plans, easyJet UK Country Manager Ali Gayward commented: “We continue to grow our network sustainably – our Jersey capacity is set to increase by around 9% this summer – providing passengers with a great range of destinations all with a convenient schedule, low fares and great service for both leisure and business travellers. This growth is clearly demonstrated by the launch of our newest Jersey route, which takes off this weekend from Edinburgh and we are sure these flights will prove popular for our Scottish customers looking to discover the variety that the island of Jersey has to offer.”

Ports of Jersey's Myra Shacklady added: “2018 is a significant year for Jersey and easyJet. Not only do we mark the airline’s 10th anniversary of its Jersey route network but we welcome this new service to Edinburgh, which I have no doubt will not only prove popular with local residents but also opens up a further opportunity to increase its inbound visitor market.”
