Express appoints new Guernsey team

Monday 25 September 2017

Bailiwick Express has appointed a new sales executive to promote its new digital newspaper in Guernsey.

Bailiwick Express Guernsey will be launching in the next few months, and Suzanne Pontin has joined the team to help develop the firm's client base.

With a long track record in building productive relationships, Ms Pontin joins Express having worked as an account manager at ITV Channel Television, and with CI advertising agencies Wallace Barnaby and as a Business Development Manager at LRD, where she worked on Aurigny's in flight magazine En Voyage. Ms Pontin will continue in her current role at LRD.

Bailiwick Express was launched in Jersey in January 2014, and has since built up a very strong audience looking for a mix of local news, information and classified advertising. The company announced the launch of the Guernsey version of Express over the summer, following the backing of local investor John Davey.

Suzanne Pontin commented: "It's a very exciting time to be joining the Express team in Guernsey, and helping to build the first new mainstream daily news outlet in the Bailiwick since Island FM launched in the the 1990's. I'm looking forward to helping my Guernsey clients to benefit from the impact, flexibility and penetration that a well-produced digital platform can deliver, and the feedback has already been positive. Clients like the data which we can supply on the performance of their advertising, which gives them a detailed understanding of exactly how it is performing, and the value which is being delivered for their investment. At a time when advertising budgets are tight, to be able to demonstrate definite value for money is a real asset."

Express Editor James Filleul added: "I'd like to welcome Suzanne to our team in Guernsey, and there will be further announcements of key staff in the coming weeks. We're really looking forward to launching - Express has really established itself as one of the main news media in Jersey, and we believe the time is right to do the same in Guernsey. The benefits of being online, all the time, are obvious - it is clearly the way the market is moving, and Express will play a key part in helping Guernsey to really embrace a digital future."
