EY promotes Wendy Martin to Partner

Wednesday 15 July 2015

Wendy Martin has been promoted to partner of EY UK EMEIA.

A specialist tax adviser, Mrs Martin joined EY in 2013 where as a member of the senior leadership team she has directed the firm’s corporate and international tax service offerings.

She has an in-depth knowledge of US and UK FATCA and its application to businesses with particular focus on the Crown Dependencies and offshore territories.  Under her leadership the firm has both developed and promoted specific tools, namely FATCA kEY and EY FIRST, to support businesses in complying with these new regulations efficiently and effectively.  Mrs Martin has also led the EY team with regard to BEPS and Diverted Profits Tax issues.

As well as her tax specialism she has championed the diversity and inclusiveness agenda, specifically encouraging women to achieve their potential by expanding their networks and developing professional skills, as well as encouraging more women to be represented on boards.  This has been demonstrated through leading EY’s sponsorship and launch of the Women’s Development Forum in Jersey.

Mrs Martin is one of 267 new partners across EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Asia).  This is a record year for EY with a 57% increase in partner promotions since 2008 and 28% of the newly promoted partners are female.

Before joining EY, Mrs Martin worked for the States of Jersey, where she was the director of tax policy with responsibility for developing and implementing all aspects of domestic and international tax policy and undertaking a detailed review of the States’ corporate tax regime and the introduction of targeted anti-avoidance rules. Previously she spent 17 years in private practice where she focused on private equity M&A work.

She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIT).

Mrs Martin said: “I am delighted with the promotion it is a great personal and professional achievement. I am grateful for EY’s commitment to supporting and developing our people and allowing them to realise their potential and look forward to continuing to be a part of this.

Andrew Dann, EY’s Channel Islands managing partner congratulated Mrs Martin on this significant milestone in her career.

“Wendy’s promotion to Partner is extremely well-deserved.  Since joining EY she has significantly grown our tax offering and cemented our position as leading advisors on FATCA, BEPS, Diverted Property Tax and other regulatory concerns. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to her hard work and commitment. I wish her every success in her new role,” said Mr Dann.
