EY’s Global Information Security Survey to include Channel Island businesses

Friday 14 August 2015

EY is currently conducting global interviews with thousands of individuals across all major industries as part of its 2015 Global Information Security Survey (GISS) and is encouraging business leaders and those responsible for IT systems in the Channel Islands to take part.

The survey assesses trends in cyber security – a key issue today and an area of increasing focus for regulators, boards of directors and clients.

The survey can help local businesses ensure they have the necessary framework in place to protect themselves, their assets and their customers and benchmark whether they are keeping up with the market.

EY’s GISS is one of the longest running and most highly respected surveys of its kind. For 17 years, it has helped businesses focus on their current critical risks, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and improve their information security for the future.

The global survey provides organisations across all industries with the opportunity to gain invaluable insight into how they compare to both their local and global competitors. With the fieldwork running until the end of August 2015, there is still time for local businesses to participate in the survey and receive benchmarking analysis on their specific performance against peers in the market place.

Leo Boessenkool, EY’s IT Risk Assurance (ITRA) manager, who is responsible for providing clients with assurance around the integrity of their financial data and assisting them with developing enhanced IT infrastructures, is currently interviewing participants in the Channel Islands for the global survey.

“The data we accumulate through this survey is invaluable, providing a crucial snapshot of the security threat landscape and allowing businesses to benchmark their own organisational strengths against others – both locally and globally,” said Mr Boessenkool.

“The resulting report provides a framework for effective security, showing businesses how to activate the right foundations, adapt those measures to achieve dynamic and efficient cyber security and learn to anticipate threats to stay ahead of the curve.

“We have already conducted interviews with executives across a wide range of industries and jurisdictions, and hope to have a record number of businesses in the Channel Islands contribution towards the findings of the survey. It is a small commitment with a very worthwhile outcome that will help organisations establish best practice and potentially develop competitive advantages,” he said.
