A new eco-friendly catering service has been launched by a St Lawrence-based organic and waste-free cooperative.

The Sustainable Cooperative (SCOOP) has launched a new catering service for those wanting to host events with a positive environmental impact, explaining that “every meal can be an act of conservation”.

The not-for-profit organisation said it aims to support local growers and provide a diverse seasonal menu "bursting with flavour and colour".

The new menu includes Mediterranean and Middle Eastern mezze, fresh pasta, continental cakes, cheese boards, and salad buffets – all prepared by a team of in-house and guest chefs.

SCOOP aims to create a more sustainable food system in Jersey by working with over 100 local providers, selling their produce at the shop at Bienvenue Farm.

SCOOP Co-Founder and Director Kaspar Wimberley said that food choices have a "profound impact" on the environment by increasing biodiversity and protecting natural resources.

He added: "Our farm-to-fork offering will focus on supporting the island's organic and regenerative growers and producers to create delicious seasonal menus with fresh local produce for events of all sizes.

"It is responding to the needs of local farmers, whose farming practices increase local biodiversity and provide us with a diverse range of more nutritious and delicious produce."

"We like food that tells a story and relates to the person enjoying the meal," said Mr Wimberley.
