Full steam ahead as Barclays confirms three more years of sponsorship for Boat Show

Thursday 02 June 2016

Barclays has announced that it is extending its sponsorship of the Jersey Boat Show for another three years in a deal that will see the Bank stay as headline sponsor until at least 2019.

The Barclays Jersey Boat Show is the largest free event in the Channel Islands and enjoyed another successful year with more than 35,000 people attending over the 2016 May bank holiday weekend.

Its reputation and size continues to grow and organisers are hoping the Show will feature more exhibitors and encourage even more visitors to the island in the future.

Managing Director of Barclays in Jersey, Paul Savery, said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside the organisers of the Boat Show and are delighted with the sums raised for our charities. We believe this is a fantastic community event to be sponsoring.

"It is also a great opportunity to let fellow islanders see some of our great community initiatives, such as Life Skills, Accessibility, Digital Eagles and Code Playground, which all featured in our hospitality tent this year. We’re absolutely thrilled to have renewed our sponsorship for three more years and are already planning for the tenth anniversary of the show in 2017.”

On behalf of Ports of Jersey - organisers of the Show - Myra Shacklady, said: “Barclays has been a trusted supporter of the Boat Show for the last seven years. Their sponsorship has been invaluable to the growth of the show but also the enthusiasm their staff show for volunteering, fundraising and helping us organise the brilliant events that are so enjoyed by the public. We are really looking forward to celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Show with Barclays next year and to continue working with them until 2019.”
