The Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Jersey has been awarded a Silver Level GreenLeader award in the TripAdvisor® GreenLeaders™ programme, which helps tourists plan "green" holidays.
To achieve Silver Level Greenleader status, the hotel has to meet a set of environmental standards developed for TripAdvisor in consultation with the United Nations Environment Programme, the US Green Building Council, ENERGY STAR®, and the International Center for Responsible Tourism Canada.
General Manager Fergus O’Donovan said: “It has always been the Rezidor philosophy to look after our environment, and to preserve our planet for future generations to come. We are very proud of this achievement, as this acknowledges all the effort that every staff member is putting into our Responsible Business Programme every day,” says
The hotel’s responsible business practice includes concepts such as a responsible water policy, controlled waste recycling and a sensitive heating and lighting policy. Other aspects include a preventative maintenance plan and green education and information, both for staff and guests.
Jenny Rushmore, Director of Responsible Travel at TripAdvisor said: "TripAdvisor GreenLeaders are leading the hospitality industry in making efforts to improve their environmental footprint. We greatly applaud these hotels, and are pleased to share their eco-friendly practices with our online community of more than 260 million travellers who visit the site each month."
