Hotel group rules out sale of the Grand and L'Horizon hotels

The owners of two of Jersey's most well-known hotels have denied rumours that they are planning to sell both sites.

In a statement, Julia Hands, CEO of Hand Picked Hotels, stressed that they had no plans to sell the Grand or L'Horizon, and that their dedication to Island tourism has been demonstrated through an on-going multi-million pound investment plan.

“Over recent months, we have been asked whether either of our Jersey properties are for sale or indeed have been sold. We can categorically state that neither hotel is for sale.”

“Hand Picked Hotels has invested heavily in both the AA five-star Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa and the AA four Silver Star L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa, improving facilities and creating employment opportunities in the local hospitality sector. It saddens us to hear these totally unfounded rumours, which have caused distress for our employees and customers.”

Over the past two years, Hand Picked Hotels Limited has invested over £3.7 million in their Jersey properties and they say they are “firmly committed to the ongoing refurbishment programmes and development of both businesses”.

Discussing the latest phase of work Martin Kelly, General Manager of Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa said: “Since the purchase of Grand Jersey by Hand Picked Hotels in 2014, there has been substantial on-going investment in the property.

“These refurbishments demonstrate the confidence and commitment that the Group has to Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa, our sister property L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa and indeed to the hospitality industry in the Island as a whole.”
