Mourant Ozannes partner Helen Ruelle has been appointed as the new chair of the Jersey Community Relations Trust.

As head of Mourant Ozannes' employment practice in Jersey, Helen is well placed to advise and counsel on matters of discrimination and equality in the Island.

She has spoken and written extensively on the subject of the new discrimination laws and has been involved in consultations with local businesses to prepare organisations for the impact of the new legislation.

On her appointment to the position Helen said: "I am delighted to have been appointed as the chairman of the Community Relations Trust; I'm a firm believer in the work that the charity does and am passionate about equality and inclusion.

"I'm looking forward to continuing the excellent work of the trust in both raising awareness of the important work that the charity undertakes, and steering the group to new and exciting opportunities which will include working on achieving greater gender equality in the Jersey workplace and a review of the universal availability of good quality childcare."

Helen's predecessor Dr Elena Moran had been the chair of the group since 2008 and, following a ministerial decision, Helen will now be appointed to the role for a four-year tenure.
