HSBC launches free online sustainability tool for businesses

Wednesday 19 June 2024

HSBC has launched a free online tool to help businesses in the Channel Islands monitor their impact on the environment.

The 'HSBC Sustainability Tracker' service helps its users to assess how well their current practices are working, and how they should proceed in the future to mitigate their environmental impact.

HSBC created the tool with small- and medium-sized businesses in mind after realising that, while sustainable practices are vital for a modern business model, dedicated tools were too often a barrier for those without the necessary financing.

89% of investors say it is important or vitally important for companies they invest in to be preparing for the effects of climate change, according to the bank.

HSBC hopes that the new tool will allow greater environmental equity to be achieved and financial barriers will no longer limit sustainable practices.

Aline Ayotte, Head of Commercial Banking at HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, said: “Businesses across the islands are recognising the opportunity that comes from being more sustainable and are seeking to demonstrate their ESG credentials to customers, investors, staff, and other stakeholders.

"This is particularly the case against the backdrop of all three islands having net zero commitments.

"Our aim is to help clients and businesses to achieve their sustainability targets, and the launch of the HSBC Sustainability Tracker is one way we are able to do this.”

You can find the free tool online HERE.
