Investec’s lending teams expansion

Investec Private Banking says activity and client demand has led to the expansion of its lending teams in the Channel Islands.

Andy Smith has joined the bank as Head of Trust and Fiduciary Lending in Jersey after a 29-year career with RBS group and Mark Ray has joined the lending team to manage the existing loan book. Mark Barnett has joined the lending team in Guernsey to perform a similar role.

Kevin Allen, Head of Lending in Jersey and Guernsey, welcomed the new team members, whom he said have a wealth of experience.

"Their appointments are in response to the increased volume of lending business being undertaken and the momentum we are building in the lending team at Investec to do even more. It also reflects the strong pipeline of new business opportunities that we are currently seeing which we expect to grow," he said.

Mr Smith spent 15 years working in the UK and 14 working offshore in the Isle of Man and Jersey. In his new role, he heads up the intermediary lending team in Jersey, providing lending solutions to key trust and intermediary clients.

He said he was attracted to the fact that Investec was a very "people-focused" business.

"The client is at the heart of everything they do and they have a strong desire to grow the business locally and support the trust and intermediary sector," he said. "One of the attractions of coming to work for Investec was their desire to support key clients and grow the business, which is exactly what I intend to do."
