The Jersey branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) has launched its seventh annual search to identify the Island’s top business leaders, as it announces details of its events programme in its 50th anniversary year.
Nominations for the 2016 Jersey Director of the Year Awards, once again supported by Gold Sponsor Appleby, who have been associated with the initiative since its inception, as well as Silver Sponsor Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Limited and media partner PBS, can be made online now at www.iod.je and are open until Friday 12th February.
The Awards will culminate in a black tie dinner on Friday 29th April at the Hotel de France, designed to celebrate the achievements of shortlisted nominees and winners from across the private, public and voluntary sectors. Anyone can submit a nomination and the online process simply requires a concise recommendation of up to 250 words to demonstrate the qualities sought in the six different categories, which include:
Director of the Year for a Small Organisation (less than 10 employees)
Director of the Year for a Medium Organisation (11-100 employees)
Director of the Year for a Large Organisation (100+ employees)
Young Director of the Year
Public/Third Sector Director of the Year
Global Director of the Year
Meanwhile, the IoD has also announced details of its programme for 2016, including its Lunch Club series, hosted at the Grand Jersey and sponsored by Greenlight. Having kicked off the year with a talk by Tony Moretta, Digital Jersey (26th January), the first half of the year will also see talks given by Kevin Keen (23rd February), Mark Boleat, City of London (22nd March), Senator Alan Maclean, Minister for Treasury and Resources (19th April), Karen McConnell, Comptroller and Auditor General (24th May) and Captain Fran Collins, Condor Ferries (14th June). Places for all Lunch Club events can now be booked online via IoD Jersey’s new Eventbrite facility.
In addition, the flagship IoD Jersey Annual Debate, once again supported by main sponsor Carey Olsen and champagne sponsor Ashburton Investments, is scheduled to take place on 15th September at the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society.
Wendy Dorman, IoD Jersey branch Chairman, said: "This is a particularly special year for the Jersey branch of the IoD, which was founded in 1966. As such, we are pleased to announce a comprehensive programme of events during our 50th anniversary year, including our flagship Awards and Debate, whilst we will be running some special initiatives throughout the year too.
“With nominations for the Awards now open, I would encourage anyone who values strong leadership to think about nominating someone they know who has made a real difference through their ability and hard work.”
