IoD Jersey hosts inaugural mid-year review

Tuesday 20 February 2018

Progress being made on public sector reform in Jersey, and the key future challenges ahead for Jersey’s government and business sector, will be discussed at the inaugural IoD Jersey Mid-Year Review on 6 March.

At the event, the Chief Minister Senator Ian Gorst and the States of Jersey’s newly appointed Chief Executive Charlie Parker, will outline their visions for Jersey’s public sector, discuss the key opportunities and challenges they see for Jersey in the coming year, and answer questions from the audience.

Moderating, IoD Jersey Chairman Chris Clark (pictured) will question Senator Gorst and Charlie Parker about the progress that has been made on those points since the IoD debate, including establishing a coherent population policy, articulating a long-term sustainable tax system, and investing in skills and education locally and off-island.

Chris Clark said: “We had some really lively and frank discussions at our Annual Debate last year, and it’s important that we don’t just leave some of the issues and ideas that were raised there in isolation, but that we keep up the momentum and continue to press for a positive way forward that can benefit us all.

“We’re in a really interesting phase in terms of politics in Jersey at the moment, given it is an election year and that there is renewed impetus in public sector reform, so we are looking forward to an interesting session, and I’m extremely grateful to our Chief Minister Senator Ian Gorst and States of Jersey Chief Executive Charlie Parker for giving their time.”
