JeCC heats up summer season with important talk on energy efficiency

Thursday 18 June 2015

The Jersey Construction Council are launching an all new Summer Briefing Series with a topical update on the new energy plan for Jersey, Pathway 2050, which is hoped to bring a host of new opportunities to the construction sector and promote sustainable growth on the island.

The opening briefing will be held at the Radisson Blu on 25th June, where Environment Minister Steve Luce will apprise industry leaders on the Pathway 2050 plan and outline the opportunities the new policy will bring to the construction sector.

The Pathway 2050 plan aims to meet the challenges Jersey faces in terms of energy use by implementing policy to curb carbon emissions over the next 35 years. In the seminar Deputy Luce will present a vision for the future of St Helier, with fresh thinking on sustainable building design, innovations to super insulate new builds and plans to retrofit energy efficient measures in the existing stock.

The summer seminar series, sponsored by Ogier, will run over three events and focus on topics that are live for the industry, including a briefing from Andium Homes on future innovations in building homes for the island community.

Martin Holmes, Chairman of the Jersey Construction Council, said: ‘’The new energy plan promises a new era of sustainable growth for our sector with exciting opportunities to renew our built landscape. Everyone with an eye to the future will find the information highly relevant.’

The first briefing is being held at the Radisson Blu Hotel on 25th June. Doors open at 7:30 am for an 8:00am start.
