Jersey's Chamber of Commerce has given their thumbs up to potential plans to re-introduce a Heathrow to Jersey link by airline giants FlyBe.
Since the BMI Heathrow link was cut in 2009, Islanders have adjusted to flying into Gatwick, London City, Luton and London Southend but the announcement of this potential additional route is being described as good news for the business community.
Senior Executive Manager, Gillian Martindale-Parsons said: “Jersey is an international business centre. It is therefore imperative islanders are able to fly into London and make connections easily for meetings in the capital and destinations around the world. Likewise, that inward investors have a broad opportunity of connecting with Jersey businesses.
"Additional flights into Jersey also creates greater opportunity for the island's tourism industry and hopefully will assist Visit Jersey in their aims to attract one million visitors.
"Our current links into Gatwick and other London airports are well used and choice is always a good thing for residents and visitors alike.”
"When Flybe release their feasibility study of launching this proposed new route, the Jersey Chamber of Commerce would welcome an impact and sustainability review by either the States or Ports of Jersey, to ensure that the route will bring new business and not impact on existing services."
