Jersey has been crowned Best International Finance Centre at the annual WealthBriefing MENA Awards for the fifth year in a row.

The awards recognise companies, teams and individuals that have demonstrated innovation and excellence in serving the Middle East and North Africa market.

Joe Moynihan, Chief Executive Officer, Jersey Finance, accepted the award at a gala ceremony, which was held on Wednesday 10 November at the Sofitel Dubai Downtown.

Mr Moynihan said: “It’s an honour for Jersey to be recognised as the leading IFC serving the needs of MENA investors for the fifth year running, particularly during our industry’s 60th anniversary year.

“Over those years we have worked hard to nurture strong connections with the region, including through the establishment of an office in the DIFC, and we’re proud that our Island's stability, high regulatory standards, and compelling commercial environment have cemented that relationship. We continue to focus on evolving our proposition for the region."

2021 marks 15 years since Jersey signed its first bilateral agreement with the UAE and ten years since Jersey Finance established its first office in the country.

At the awards, JTC also won the ‘Independent Trust or Fiduciary Company’ category.

"Following a strong set of interim results in September, our focus remains fixed on continuing to deliver innovative, top-tier support and service to our clients. We are really proud to win this highly regarded award, which underlines our reputation and the strength of our team in the UAE.”

Meanwhile, Ocorian, which has an offices in Jersey and Guernsey, took home 'Best Trust and Fiduciary Company with Headquarters outside the MENA Region'.
