It was Island success all round at the Citywealth IFC Awards, with Jersey securing ‘International Finance Centre (IFC) of the Year’ for a fifth time running and Ogier scooping two ‘Law Firm of the Year’ titles.
Created to highlight expertise and service excellence across the private wealth sector, the awards are judged by an international panel of esteemed practitioners from all sectors – in this case, a group of judges from other shortlisted jurisdictions: silver-scorer Guernsey, bronze-winner Singapore, Bermuda, Malta, New Zealand and the USA.
Business Development Director of Jersey Finance William McGillivray accepted the award at the London-based ceremony on Wednesday.
Geoff Cook, Jersey Finance CEO, commented that being deemed the best IFC for a fifth year was, “…no small achievement.”
“Not only does this further reflect Jersey’s ability to adapt to a constantly changing and complex environment, but it also demonstrates the jurisdiction’s commitment to the highest global regulatory standards,” he said.

And it was time to pop the champagne for Ogier too, who celebrated being top law firm this year in both Jersey and the Caribbean.
Edward Mackereth, Global Managing Partner, described the wins as, “…a great start to 2017 for everybody in the Ogier team.”
He added: “The award is the result of a huge amount of hard work by the teams in Jersey, BVI and Cayman, and builds on the awards success last year during which the firm was named Offshore Law Firm of the Year by Chambers Europe, Hedgeweek Global and the Alpha Awards.
"We have a team of lawyers who demonstrate enormous quality and breadth of experience, and this award reflects their skill and commitment to driving the best results for clients."
