Visit Jersey, Jersey Heritage and Ports of Jersey agree two year partnership to provide first class visitor experience.
From next February visitors to Jersey will benefit when the Tourist Information Centre moves from Liberation Place to Jersey Museum.
Well informed visitors will potentially move around and explore more and, most importantly, will want to return.
Visit Jersey, Jersey Heritage and Ports of Jersey have agreed a collaborative two-year partnership that will deliver high quality, year-round, information services across the Island, in port gateways and Jersey Heritage locations.
Jersey Heritage has agreed to house the Tourist Information Centre in Jersey Museum in return for undertaking the retail operation while Ports of Jersey will continue to deliver front of house services, which it has been providing on behalf of Visit Jersey since March 2015.
The Tourist Information Centre will provide an information solution that will embrace digital and physical components. This will include, in time, a new online ‘go to’ hub of information as well as the presence of new, stimulating and inspiring seasonal displays.
Commenting on the partnership, Keith Beecham, CEO of Visit Jersey noted: “This two-year, three-partner, solution provides a platform to drive and devise an innovative and engaging Tourist Information Centre proposition now and into the future to deliver our shared vision for our visitors.”
On behalf of Ports of Jersey Group Commercial Director, Myra Shacklady, said: “This exciting new venture is a perfect example of how our three organisations can work collectively to deliver a strong customer focused service to the Island’s visitors and industry partners. Ports of Jersey takes great pride in the knowledge, ability and professionalism of our front-line staff and we are therefore delighted to be able to continue to offer this high level of service at the new Tourist Information Centre in St Helier.”
Jon Carter, Director of Jersey Heritage, added: “This partnership will enable us to re-open Jersey Museum year round, for the benefit of both Jersey residents and visitors. Jersey Heritage wants to play our part in re-energising the visitor experience in Jersey and we are always looking to invest and adapt the heritage sites to remain relevant to the Island's changing needs. Jersey Museum is a treasure house of Island stories past and present and the perfect hub for visitors to begin their discovery of the Island.
Senator Lyndon Farnham concluded: “I am delighted to see an innovative new partnership that will ensure visitors to Jersey will continue to benefit from on-island information provision. The know-how and skills of Visit Jersey, Ports of Jersey and Jersey Heritage will now be aligned to deliver a warmer welcome to Jersey and help our visitors enjoy and explore even more aspects of our island.”
The partnership is an opportunity to make the most of combined knowledge and talent, and develop a first class information service for visitors to Jersey, complimented by regular and direct involvement with the Jersey Visitor Attractions Group. This will be implemented within the 2016 visitor services budget allocation.
