JJ Fox Trading Ltd has become the first wholesaler in the island to receive Jersey Living Wage Accreditation.

JJ Fox Trading is a fifth-generation privately owned family business which supplies Channel Island businesses across the retail, hospitality, catering and corporate sectors.

As a living wage employer, JJ Fox Trading has agreed to pay staff at least £11.27 per hour - a figure taking into account the cost of living, taxes, and the value of benefits available to working people on low incomes.

The Living Wage campaign is run by Caritas Jersey, a local charity licensed by the Living Wage Foundation in the UK to manage and co-ordinate the promotion of a Living Wage in Jersey.

Jersey Living Wage Campaign Team Leader Jennifer Bridge said: "We are delighted that JJ Fox Trading Ltd has been accredited as a Living Wage employer. With every employer that becomes accredited the message of the importance of paying the Living Wage is strengthened. We thank JJ Fox Ltd for playing their part'.

Managing Director of Fox Trading Martina McGibney added: "We are delighted to be the first wholesaler to gain Living Wage accreditation in Jersey, not just for directly employed staff but for all third-party employees on the Island as well. We are very proud of this achievement as we believe that all our employees should be treated fairly and in accordance with our values and pay is a significant part of that."
