JT announces sponsorship of National Coding Week

Wednesday 27 May 2015

JT will once again sponsor the annual National Coding Week, which will take place in September 2015.

The 2015 National Coding Week was launched last month at the ‘Future of Web Design’ conference in London, which was organised by co-sponsor and international tech conference organiser, Future Insights. Codex Co-founders Jordan Love and Richard Rolfe, organise the week to provide free-to-attend coding training sessions around the UK, with the aim of providing adults with the basics of coding, alongside other beginners with little or no previous knowledge.

In further support of National Coding Week, JT hosted a two-hour long introduction to coding session at its London offices for new students, journalists and JT staff. During the session, attendees learnt about how code is written and the structure of web languages HTML5 and CSS3. They also learnt how to trouble-shoot problems and how to create links and insert images.

Tim Ringsdore, Chief Relationship Officer, at JT said: “National Coding Week is a concept that has the community at its heart and we fully support Codex in their endeavour to spread the knowledge of coding to the wider audience in our communities.

"Our London team was pleased to host this training session, which offered an insight into the importance of the work Codex does with businesses and individuals, and we wish them all the best in preparations for the 2015 National Coding Week.  We will be working with Codex to host some events linked to raising awareness during September and look forward to announcing these soon.”

Richard Rolfe, Codex, said: “There is a digital skills gap across the UK and Channel Islands and it is important that anyone, no matter what their background or age feels that there is support available to them to learn digital skills such as coding. National Coding Week is an opportunity for everyone to share their skills, have fun and learn to code and we thank JT for their support".
