Laundrette gets £100,000 green makeover

Tuesday 21 March 2017

The Roseville Street Laundrette has rebranded as the Green Laundry Room and is ready to push the button as the first environmentally friendly laundrette in Jersey.

The eco-friendly refurbishment is complete and now gives Islanders the option for clean and ‘green’ clothing.

Owner and founder Kimberly Le Brocq was inspired after several years living in the UK and working in the US and Europe, where laundrettes are leading an environmentally friendly revolution to make washing laundry healthy as they seek non-chemical and efficient alternatives.

Since purchasing the Roseville Street Laundrette in January 2016 and incorporating it with the Clos des Pas laundrette, Ms Le Brocq has developed the business into an eco-friendly laundry service.

She said: “I’m passionate about creating a laundry service that is better for the environment and the clients we serve. The new machines will significantly improve efficiency, use less natural resources, smell fresher and produce cleaner, safer laundry for you.”

Over £100,000 has been invested in new ‘state of the art’ machinery for the Green Laundry Room. These machines are more environmentally friendly and offer a new alternative to dry cleaning - Lagoon Professional Cleaning.

Ms Le Brocq added: “Since returning to Jersey, I’ve become more passionate about taking care of our Island so my daughter can enjoy its natural beauty in the future. We need to question our everyday commonplace activities and ask ourselves - is there a greener alternative? The technology we have brought over to replace Dry Cleaning is a game changer. Lagoon Professional Cleaning is greener and leaves your clothes cleaner.”

On a mission to continue her green makeover, Ms Le Brocq is currently looking to source eco-friendly bleach alternatives and air source heat dryers eliminating the need for gas.
